About this Apple iMac
Apple launched this incredible iMac on August 4, 2020. It is listed as an entirely separate model. However, it is a CTO version of the iMac 27-Inch “Core i7” 3.6 (5K, 2020). The significant differences between this CTO model and the base model are that this iMac features a more powerful processor and better GPU options.
The CPU of this iMac is a fast Intel Core i9 processor with 3.6 GHz speed and 10 independent cores. This latest processor offers higher performance because of higher processing speed, extra cores, and more cache memory. It has a shared L3 cache memory of 20 MB which makes it significantly faster than its 2019 iMac predecessors. This iMac is also equipped with a T2 chip for better security.
The standard RAM of this model is 8 GB. It has 512 GB SSD standard storage. It comes with an option to either equip it with a Radeon Pro 5700 graphics processor featuring 8 GB VRAM or a Radeon Pro 5700 XT graphics processor featuring 16 GB VRAM. A 1080p FaceTime HD webcam is also installed, along with the studio-quality three-mic array and stereo speakers.
According to Apple, the display of this iMac is a 27-Inch Retina 5K display which is also one of the best computer displays ever. It has a high-resolution display of 5120 x 2880. True Tone and Nano Texture technologies are also featured in this model. The front of this iMac is glass, while the rear case is aluminum. It is a tapered-edge design model.
A wide range of connectivity options for this iMac includes 4 USB 3.0 ports, 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports (USB-C), Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and standard Bluetooth 5.0 wireless. An Apple Magic Keyboard and the multi-touch Magic Mouse 2 are also present in the box with the iMac.
The video memory can either be 8 GB or 16 GB. The RAM is upgradeable to a higher range of up to 128 GB. The default storage capacity of 512 GB SSD could be upgraded to 8 TB SSD. The display of this iMac can be equipped with Nano Texture glass. This iMac’s default mouse and keyboard could also be upgradeable to Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad and Magic Trackpad 2 for the extra cost. This model supports the current version of macOS and originally came with the macOS 10.15.6
