About this iMac
This MXWT2LL/A iMac model was officially launched on August 4, 2020. Apple introduced several improvements in this iMac compared to its 2019 iMac predecessors, including a better webcam, speaker system, and microphone. It has a more advanced processor, system-level architecture, and integrated GPU. Unlike its older 2017 iMac versions, the display of this iMac model features True Tone and nano-texture technology.
The 2020 iMac has a 3.1 GHz core i5 processor with a 12 MB shared L3 cache. For GPU, Radeon Pro 5300 graphics processor is integrated into the system with 4 GB of dedicated GDDR6 video memory. The RAM of this iMac is 8 GB which is upgradeable as well. It comes with a default storage space of 256 GB SSD memory. This model has a large LED-backlit 27-Inch Retina 5K display supporting True Tone. A T2 Security Chip is also installed in this iMac to keep your data more secure.
Other notable features include a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam for high-definition video capture and video calls, a studio-quality three-mic array to deliver studio-quality recordings with a high signal-to-noise ratio, and stereo speakers for more immersed sound. This iMac has several connectivity options, including 4 USB 3.0 ports, an SDXC SD Card slot, 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless connectivity.
This model has an aluminum wireless Magic Keyboard and a wireless Magic Mouse 2 with multi-touch surface compatibility. Similar to other tapered-edge iMac models, this iMac is also designed with an aluminum rear and glass front. It is slim in design with thicker in the middle and tapers to a razor-thin 5 mm at the edges rather than flat sides.
This iMac model is 51.6 cm in height, 65.0 cm in width, and 20.3 cm in depth and weighs 8.92 kg. The Operating System of the iMac can also be upgraded from its pre-installed Mac OS X 10.15.6 up to the current MacOS X.

By default, this iMac model has 8 GB of 2666 MHz PC4-21300 DDR4 SDRAM with two separate 4 GB memory modules. It comes with a default 256 GB SSD storage memory.
Screen Size and Resolution
The Apple iMac 2020 Core i5 model features a Retina 5K 27-Inch widescreen display supporting IPS technology and LED-backlit feature. It has a native resolution of 5120 x 2880 and 500 nits brightness. It also supports True Tone technology, which is absent in earlier iMac models. The display’s aspect ratio is 16:9 with wide color” DCI-P3 gamut for enhanced and better color schemes. For glare reduction, the display of this iMac also features nano-texture glass. Additionally, it has support for 4K Dolby Vision and HDR10 content.
OS & Processor
This iMac model comes with the pre-installed macOS X 10.15.6 (19G2005). It fully supports the final versions of macOS Catalina and MacOS BigSur. Furthermore, it supports macOS Monterey (macOS 12) but does not support the minor Spatial Audio, Portrait Mode, 3D Landmarks, and Interactive Globe features.
Finally, this model is compatible with the current macOS, macOS Ventura (macOS 13) but does not support the features such as the minor Live Captions in FaceTime, Emoji Dictation, and Reference Mode with Sidecar features.
The processor of this iMac is Intel 64-bit 10th Generation Core i5 processor (14 nm), also known as the “Comet Lake” (I5-10500) processor. It includes 6 independent cores, a 12 MB shared level cache, and an integrated memory controller. This model also supports Turbo boost to reach a processing speed of up to 4.5 GHz. The graphics of this iMac are powered by a Radeon Pro 5300 graphics processor that comes with 4 GB of GDDR6 VRAM.
This iMac has a dedicated security feature of a T2 security chip.
Upgradability
The RAM of this iMac model is configurable. With 4 RAM slots, this iMac model’s RAM could be upgraded to 128 GB. Moreover, the default keyboard and mouse can also be upgraded to Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad and Magic Trackpad 2, respectively.
The iMac 27” comes with 256 GB SSD storage which is not upgradeable at the time of purchase nor later.
The operating system of this model also supports the latest version of macOS Ventura except for the minor Live Captions in FaceTime, Emoji Dictation, and Reference Mode with Sidecar features.
