About this MacBook Pro
Apple released this MacBook Pro M1 Max 14-Inch model on October 18, 2021. It was released along with its other variants that are technically the CTO versions of MacBook Pro “M1 Pro” 8-Core/14-Core 14-Inch (2021) or MacBook Pro “M1 Pro” 10-Core/16-Core 14-Inch (2021). This model series came up with a faster processor featuring more CPU and GPU cores.
Apple introduced their powerful M1 Max processor in this MacBook Pro 2021 device. It has 10 CPU cores with 8 performance cores and 2 efficiency cores. This model features Apple GPU with 32 cores. A high number of GPU cores are integrated into this model, so more data can be processed parallelly. It also features a 16-core Neural Engine to accelerate artificial intelligence operations and machine learning tasks. This MacBook Pro series has some clear improvements as compared to its 2020 MacBook Pro Intel predecessors.
The 14.2-Inch Liquid Retina XDR display of this MacBook delivers 3024 x 1964 native resolution and 1600 nits peak brightness. A 1080p FaceTime HD webcam is installed on the top center of the screen for video calling and high-quality video recording. This 2021 MacBook Pro model features a six-speaker system, a magic keyboard, a TouchID sensor, and Force Touch Trackpad. This model does not have a Touch Bar that was first introduced in the 2016 MacBook Pro.
This notebook is sold in two colors: Silver and a darker Space Gray. This device supports 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 for connectivity. This MacBook Pro comes installed with macOS Monterey 12.0.1 and can be upgraded to the latest macOS. The MacBook Pro 14-Inch M1 Max 2021 is available in two memory capacities. It can be equipped with either 512 GB or 1 TB SSD. The storage range on this model can also be configurable to higher capacity.
Screen Size and Resolution
As aforementioned, the display size of this notebook is 14.2-Inch. Apple used mini-LED technology for its display, known as Liquid Retina Display (16:10 aspect ratio), to deliver improved contrast ratio and peak brightness. It has a display resolution of 3024 x 1964 at 254 ppi. It features 1000 nits of sustained brightness and 1600 nits of peak brightness with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. The remarkable display of this device also has the support for 1 billion colors, Wide color (P3), True Tone, and ProMotion technology.
Processor & Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
One of the most powerful processors by Apple, 3.2 GHz M1 Max is used in this MacBook Pro. It has 10 cores featuring 8 performance cores and 2 efficiency cores. As per Apple’s claim, it is up to 70 percent faster than the original M1 chip.
This model features Apple’s Graphics Processing Unit with 32 cores. More cores are added to this model specifically for speeding up tasks and delivering massive performance. Aside from a powerful CPU and GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine is also installed in this model. It can help in using neural networks and machine learning in a more energy-efficient manner.

The M1 Max processor of this device has an L3 shared level memory of 24 MB with 512-bit 32 GB LPDDR5 SDRAM. The RAM of this device can be configurable to 64 GB. There are no extra RAM slots in this model, so it can be upgradable only at the time of purchase.
Battery Life
This notebook is powered by a 70 W h Lithium-Polymer battery. According to Apple, it can provide up to 11-17 hours of battery life. A 96W USB-C Power Adapter is used to charge the battery.
Upgradability
This MacBook Pro has macOS 12.0.1 (21A558) pre-installed on it. The operating system of this model is fully compatible with the final version of macOS.The RAM can be upgradeable from 32 GB to 64 GB. The default SSD for this model is 512 GB or 1 TB that can also be upgradable to higher capacity.
