The Apple iPhone 15 Plus, part of the iPhone 15 series, was announced on September 12, 2023, during an Apple Event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. It was introduced alongside its siblings, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as the latest additions to Apple’s flagship smartphone lineup. Pre-orders for the iPhone 15 Plus began on September 15, 2023, with the official release date set for September 22, 2023.     

The iPhone 15 Plus is designed to cater to a variety of international markets, including carriers in Canada, Mexico, Japan, and Saudi Arabia, as well as the US territories of Guam and the US Virgin Islands. Despite its targeted regions, it is technically compatible with carriers worldwide, making it a versatile choice for international users.     

Featuring a 6.1-inch “Super Retina XDR display” with ProMotion technology, the iPhone 15 Plus offers a high-resolution (2556×1179) screen with a pixel density of 460 ppi and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This display, capable of haptic touch, nearly covers the entire front of the device, providing an immersive viewing experience.       

The iPhone 15 Plus boasts a sophisticated camera system, including a “TrueDepth” front camera housed within the “Dynamic Island” that supports Face ID, captures 12-megapixel photos, and records 4K video. The rear camera setup includes a 48-megapixel “Main” camera, a 12-megapixel “Ultra Wide” camera, and a 12-megapixel “3X Telephoto” camera. This versatile system allows users to switch between popular focal lengths and supports high-resolution 48-megapixel HEIF images.

It features a Ceramic Shield front cover and a glass back with an integrated “MagSafe” magnetic charging connection. The device is certified with IP68 water and dust resistance, ensuring it can withstand the elements.  

Internally, the device is powered by a 3.78 GHz “Apple A17 Pro” processor, which includes six cores split between performance and efficiency tasks. It also features a 6-core GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine, hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and a dedicated AV1 decoder for efficient video streaming. With 8 GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 128 GB to 1 TB, the iPhone 15 Plus is equipped to handle a wide array of tasks and applications.  

Connectivity is a strong suit for the iPhone 15 Plus, with support for 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6E, 5G wireless, Bluetooth 5.3, and more. It also includes features like Crash Detection, Emergency SOS, and Roadside Assistance via satellite, as well as a USB-C port and dual eSIM support.    

Apple’s battery life estimates for the iPhone 15 Plus are impressive, with up to 75 hours of audio playback, 23 hours of video playback, and 20 hours of streamed video playback, catering to users with high demands for media consumption.
