About this Mac
In 2015 Apple released a higher-end configuration of the 1.6GHz i5 model MJVE2LL/A. The built-to-order MacBook Air model MMGG2LL/A, features a fifth-generation “Broadwell ULT” 2.2GHz i7 Intel Processor.
One of the major differences from the previous 2014 model includes an updated Wi-Fi adapter to the 802.11ac standard that is backward compatible with the 802.11a/b/g/n. The battery also received a massive upgrade increasing its life by close to 12 hours. This is almost doubled from the previous generations.
The 13.3” widescreen came with a 1440 x 900 native resolution. The graphics processor used is the Intel HD Graphics 6000 which uses up to 1.5 GB of system memory. This MacBook Air comes with MacOS X 10.10.2 (14C2507) and runs on a 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 (5650U) processor. It also has an Intel HD Graphics 6000 graphics processor that shares 1.5 GB of memory with the system.
Memory & Architecture
The MacBook Air is equipped with a 32k/32k x2 Level 1 Cache and 256k x2, 3 MB (on chip) Level 2/Level 3 cache. It is also has a 4 GB or 8 GB of 1600 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM on board which can be upgraded to 8 GB at the time of purchase.
Battery Life
The MacBook Air comes with a 54-watt-hour lithium polymer battery that can provide up to 12 hours of wireless web use. This is a vast improvement from the previous models and has almost doubled the battery life.
Available Upgrades
This MacBook Air has RAM that can be upgraded from the 4 GB to 8 GB but only at the time of purchase. The operating system of the MacBook Air can also be upgraded from its pre-installed MacOS X 10.10.2 (14C2507) up to current MacOS X. The device can host Windows 7 (64-Bit) and can accommodate operating systems as recent as Windows 10 (64-Bit). This MacBook Air has dimensions of 0.11 – 0.68 in ×12.8 in x 8.94 in and a weight of 2.96 lbs (1.35 kg).
