About this iMac

The iMac Pro “8-Core” was released in December 2017, as an Apple all-in-one powerful computer. The main processor is an Intel Xeon W-2140B with 8 cores, and in addition, the processing is done by an Apple T2 chip, which has an integrated image signal processor, system management controller, audio controller, and SSD controller. The main frequency is 3.2GHz and it can be boosted up to 4.2 GHz.

The 27″ iMac also has a built-in 1080p “FaceTime HD” webcam, stereo speakers, four microphones, and a 27″ 5120×2880 LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen IPS DCI-P3 “Retina 5K” display, all packed in a thin, dark “Space Gray” housing.

The image signal processor can work with the FaceTime Full HD camera to enable enhanced tone mapping, improved exposure control, and face detection-based auto exposure and auto white balance. The storage is encrypted by the hardware with no effect on the SSD’s performance, keeping the Intel Xeon W processor free for user workflow. Besides that, secure boot ensures that only operating system software trusted by Apple loads at startup.

In order to handle the thermal energy needed for the processor. Apple redesigned the thermal management system in the iMac Pro Series, and after that, there was a 75% increase in airflow needed for the CPU. The iMac Pro can handle 500 watts of power, and that is 67% more power than the previous generation 27″ iMac.

The iMac’s communication ports are much faster than the ports on previous generation iMacs, such as the 10Gb Ethernet compared to the 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet port found on the previous generation iMacs.

The device comes with a space gray Apple Magic Keyboard with a numeric keypad and the Apple Magic Mouse 2.
