This device is a BTO/CTO device which is nearly identical to MC024LL/A. We have listed this device separately as it has been configured with an upgraded processor when compared to the base model. This has been done to make it easier to catalog as well as easier to read.
Midway through 2010, Apple introduced a new MacBook Pro line-up powered by “Intel Core i7” processors. The first in the line-up is the MacBook Pro “Core i7” 2.66 GHz 17-inch. One of the main features of this device includes that it comes with two graphics processors built into it. The NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (provides better graphics) and Intel HD Graphics (provides better battery life). The switch between the two is determined by the operating system and depending on what applications are in use. A turbo boost for the processor speed is also supported on this system when there is a significant workload. Further device specifications and capabilities for this MacBook Pro can be found below.
The hard drive storage is increased to 500 GB capacity which is almost doubled from the previous year. This Macbook Pro 17″ can be upgraded to any 2.5″ hard drive or solid state drive (SSD).
This version of the MacBook Pro comes in with a 17’ screen. The default display is the TFT active-matrix “glossy” display (1920×1200 native resolution). It also is available via custom configuration with an “antiglare” display for an additional $50 USD.
This MacBook Pro comes pre-installed with MacOS X 10.6.3 (10D2063a) and runs on a 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 I7-620M (Arrandale) processor. The two graphics processors shipped with the device are the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 512 MB of dedicated GDDR3 memory and Intel HD Graphics with 256 MB of RAM shared with the system.
Your applications installed on the MacBook Pro are also guaranteed to runsmoothly with a 256k level 2 cache and a 4 MB Level 3 cache plus a 1066 MHz frontside bus with 4 GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM (PC3-8500) for its RAM. All of this is centered around a 64-Bit architecture.
The MacBook Pro comes with a 95-watt-hour lithium polymer battery that provides 8 – 9 hours of wireless use. This battery configuration is the now commonnon-swappable type that is noted in more recent models.
This MacBook Pro can be upgraded from 4 GB RAM up to 8 GB RAM. However, many individuals noted that more than 4 GB of RAM would be most beneficial due to the nature of MacBook Pro users. The operating system of the MacBook Pro can also be upgraded from its pre-installed MacOS X 10.6.3 (10D2063a) to up to current MacOS X. It can also be a host to Windows OS XP SP 2 (32-Bit) and accommodates operating systems as recent as the Windows 8.1 (64-Bit). This MacBook Pro comes with dimensions of 0.98 x 15.47 x 10.51 in and a weight of 6.6 lbs (2.99 kg).
