Midway through 2010, Apple introduced a new MacBook Pro line-up powered by “Intel Core i5” processors. The first in the line-up is the MacBook Pro “Core i5” 2.4 GHz 15-inch. Some of the main characteristics that make it a relevant device even in today’s standards include – coming with two graphics processors built into it, the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (providing better graphics) and Intel HD Graphics (providing better battery life) the switch between the two is determined by the operating system depending on what applications are in use. A turbo boost for the processor speed is also supported on this system when there is a significant workload. It is a device of high quality and one that still holds sway among its peers from other competitors to date.
The Hard drive storage is increased to 320 GB capacity which is almost double the previous year. This may seem small by today’s standards but considering the base model MacBook Pro 2017 has only 256 GB SDD, this is fairly large storage for the time.
This version of the MacBook Pro came in with a 15.4’ screen but also a customizable display. The default display is the TFT active-matrix “glossy” display (1440×900 native resolution) but for US$100 you could get a custom “high-resolution glossy” 1680×1050 display and for US$150 get a custom “high-resolution antiglare” 1680×1050 display.
This MacBook Pro comes pre-installed with macOS X 10.6.3 (10D2094) and runs on a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 l5-520M (Arrandale) processor. The two graphics processors shipped with the device are the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 256 MB of dedicated GDDR3 memory and Intel HD Graphics with 256 MB of RAM shared with the system.
Your applications installed on the a1286 MacBook Pro are also guaranteed to run smoothly with a 256k level 2 cache and a 3 MB Level 3 cache plus a 1066 MHz frontside bus with 4 GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM (PC3-8500) for its RAM, all this is centered around a 64-Bit architecture.
The MacBook Pro comes with a 77.5-watt-hour lithium polymer battery that provides 8 – 9 hours of wireless use. This battery configuration is the now commonnon-swappable type that is noted in more recent models.
This MacBook Pro can be upgraded from 4 GB RAM to up to 8 GB RAM however, many individuals noted that more than 4 GB of RAM would be beneficial due to the nature of MacBook Pro users. The Operating System of the MacBook Pro can also be upgraded from its pre-installed MacOS X 10.6.3 (10D2094) to up to current MacOS X. It can also be a host to Windows OS XP SP 2 (32-Bit) and accommodates operating systems as recent as the Windows 8.1 (64-Bit).This MacBook Pro comes with dimensions of 0.95 x 14.35 x 9.82 in and a weight of 5.6 lbs (2.54 kg). Again, very similar to previous generations which is impressive considering the more advanced technology being packed into the same shell.
