The iPhone 12 Model A2172 was first introduced in October 2020 and sold in the US. This unit has the Apple A14 Bionic chip, running on 3.0 GHz. Compared to the previous Apple Bionic chips, this processor has an Average CPU mark of 8528. For Apple A13, this mark is 4949, and for A12, that mark is 4553, which makes the A14 chip approximately two times faster than the A13 processor.

The onboard internal RAM is 4 GB in size, and the storage memory can be 64 GB, 128 GB, or 256 GB, along with Apple IOS 15 operating system. There are 2 SIMS available – nanoSIM and eSIM. The display of this mobile has OLED and Super retina XDR characteristics. It offers color naturality using 16M colors and a display resolution of 1170×2532 pixels. The display size is 6.1 inches measured diagonally. Compared to the previous HDR, the new XDR Retina technology shows images with 460 ppi, which are more natural and color-full and have improved brightness characteristics.

The device has 3 cameras, one tucked in the notch on the front and a dual-camera system on the back. The front camera is a “TrueDepth” camera and supports face identification functionality, shoots 12-megapixel photos and 4K video, and has software support for a list of Portrait mode options and lighting, and much more. The two cameras on the back have allows the user to shoot 12-megapixel photos with precise details over 120 degrees view angle and a natural 16M colors. Thus, the user can produce more effects, and while the first camera lens picks up color, the other lens will work to pick up the details. This lens combination allows users to take high-quality and super detailed photos. The camera video resolution is 3840×2160, and supported video formats are HEVC, H-264, and MPEG4 with 60 fps.

The device qualifies the international IP68 standard rating for splash, dust, and water resistance. It can resist a water depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes, compared to 1.5 meters of IP68 low limit rate or 2 meters on previous Apple 11 iPhones.
