The iPad Pro M4 11-Inch (Wi-Fi Only) was introduced on May 7, 2024. This model showcases an 11-inch “Tandem OLED” backlit 2420×1668 “Ultra Retina XDR” display (264 ppi) that reaches a maximum brightness of 1000 nits for SDR and XDR full-screen brightness, and 1600 nits for HDR content. The display is encased in a slim frame with rounded corners and flat sides, available in either silver or a dark “Space Black” color.  

This iPad Pro is powered by a 4.4 GHz Apple M4 processor with configurations available in either 9 cores (3 performance, 6 efficiency) for 256 GB or 512 GB storage options or 10 cores (4 performance, 6 efficiency) for 1 TB or 2 TB storage options. The 256 GB and 512 GB models come with 8 GB of RAM, while the 1 TB and 2 TB models are equipped with 16 GB of RAM. These higher storage configurations also offer an optional “Nano-texture glass” for reduced glare at an additional cost.      

Connectivity features of the iPad Pro M4 11″ include a Thunderbolt/USB 4 port, support for external keyboards and trackpads via a “Smart Connector,” and compatibility with the new Apple Pencil Pro, which boasts additional sensors for enhanced interactivity such as squeeze, barrel roll, and haptic feedback. The Apple Pencil Pro charges magnetically on the side of the device.      

Camera capabilities include a 12-megapixel “TrueDepth” front camera that supports 1080p video and the “Center Stage” feature, which automatically adjusts to keep subjects in frame. The front camera also supports “Face ID” authentication. On the rear, there is a 12-megapixel “Wide” camera capable of shooting 4K video.      

For wireless connectivity, this iPad Pro supports dual-band 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6E) with 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth 5.3. Audio features include a studio-quality four-microphone array and a four-speaker system. The battery life is estimated at 10 hours for web surfing on Wi-Fi or video playback.  

Compared to its predecessor, the iPad Pro M4 11-Inch offers improvements in thinness, speed, display quality, and a landscape-oriented front camera. It also supports the more advanced Apple Pencil Pro. However, it no longer includes an “Ultra Wide” rear camera, has one fewer internal microphone, and the cellular models in the US have dropped support for mmWave 5G and nano SIM cards.       

The model number for this iPad Pro is A2836 (EMC 8472), and it runs iPadOS 17. It weighs 0.98 lbs (444 g) and measures 9.83 x 6.99 x 0.21 inches. The iPad Pro M4 supports various audio formats, including AAC, MP3, Apple Lossless, and Dolby Atmos, and video formats such as HEVC, H.264, and ProRes.
