If you have a device that draws less power such as a MacBook Air that only draws 45W or MacBook Pro 13 that uses 60W then the adaptor just doesn’t have to provide as much power. No downside. If anything, an 85W adaptor powering a lower power mac might even run cooler than the smaller 60W adaptor.
