The iPhone 15 Plus model A3096, intended for carriers in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao, was announced on September 12, 2023, and released on September 22, 2023. This model is technically compatible with carriers around the world, although it is specifically tailored for the regions mentioned and, unlike other iPhone 15 Plus models, it does not support eSIM capability and instead supports dual hardware nano-SIMs.   

The iPhone 15 Plus features a haptic-touch capable 6.7″ (diagonal) “Super Retina XDR” display with a resolution of 2796×1290 at 460 ppi, which nearly covers the entire front of the device. The front camera, nestled within the “Dynamic Island,” is a “TrueDepth” camera with a f/1.9 aperture, capable of taking 12-megapixel photos and shooting 4K video. On the back, there is a 4K capable “advanced dual-camera system” consisting of a 48-megapixel “Main” camera with an f/1.6 aperture and a 12-megapixel “Ultra Wide” camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a 120-degree field of view.    

The iPhone 15 Plus is encased in aluminum with a “contoured edge” and flat sides, featuring a glass front and a “color-infused” glass back. The front is protected by a “Ceramic Shield” for increased durability, and the back includes an integrated “MagSafe” magnetic charging connection. It is rated IP68 for splash, water, and dust resistance, capable of withstanding a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes. The device is available in five color options: Blue, Pink, Yellow, Green, and Black.     

Internally, the iPhone 15 Plus is powered by a 3.5 GHz “Apple A16 Bionic” processor with six cores, complemented by a 5-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. It comes with 6 GB of RAM and offers storage options of 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB. Connectivity features include 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 with 2×2 MIMO, 5G wireless, Bluetooth 5.3, “second generation” Ultra Wideband, NFC for Apple Pay, and support for dual hardware nano-SIMs. The device also boasts “Express Cards with power reserve” for compatible transit systems, Crash Detection, Emergency SOS and Roadside Assistance via satellite, and a USB-C port.   

Apple’s battery life estimates for the iPhone 15 Plus suggest “up to” 100 hours of audio playback, 26 hours of video playback, and 20 hours of streamed video playback, reflecting its robust battery performance.
