About this MacBook Air
The new MacBook Air M2 2022 was introduced recently, on June 6. Apple added several improvements to this 2022 MacBook Air series, including a lighter weight, a better webcam, a better sound system, and a more robust and soundless processor.
This MacBook Air features a next-gen 5 nm M2 (SoC) processor that supports the ultrafast processing of this device. It has eight cores which are further divided half into performance cores and half efficiency cores. This model is packed with a powerful 10-core GPU to accelerate graphics-intensive work. The 16-core Neural Engine of this model assists the processor and GPU to perform even faster. The model has 8 GB onboard RAM. The standard storage capacity is 512 GB SSD.
All the internal architecture is enclosed in an elegant aluminum case with a 13.6 Inch display size. Apple discontinued the wedge design for MacBook Air; these models have uniformly thin aluminum designs featuring a flat body with a catchless magnetic latch. It features a Liquid Retina widescreen LED-backlit display that delivers a high resolution of 2560 x 1664 at 224 pixels per inch (ppi).
It also features a Magic Keyboard with a Touch ID sensor. A Force Touch Trackpad is also present in the model. A 1080p FaceTime HD webcam is located on the top of the screen. A four-speaker system is also installed for highly realistic sounds.
This latest MacBook Air model has four attractive color options: dark blue Midnight, a warm gray Starlight, a darker Space Gray, and Classic Silver. It has various connectivity options, including 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, dual Thunderbolt 3 (USB 4) ports, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It weighs around 1.24 kg (2.7 lbs).
It comes with a pre-installed macOS 12.4, which is fully compatible with the latest version of macOS Monterey (macOS 12) and macOS Ventura (macOS 13). The dimensions of this device are 0.44in x11.97in x8.46 in and weigh 2.7 lbs (1.24 kg)

This model features 512 GB SSD standard storage space. It could also be upgradeable to 1 TB or 2 TB SSD for additional costs.
Screen Size and Resolution
The front side of this MacBook Air covers a 13.6 Inch glass display. It is a widescreen LED-backlit True Tone compatible Liquid Retina IPS display for a better dynamic range with high contrast and brightness. It provides a display resolution of 2560 x 1664 at 224 ppi and 500 nits brightness. The aspect ratio is 16:10. It also supports 1 billion colors and P3 wide color gamut. It has a notch on the top of the display where the webcam and other sensors are installed.
Processor & Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
Apple unleashed its new 64-bit M2 processor with eight cores in this MacBook Air. According to Apple, the M2 processor of this device delivers 1.4 times faster performance than the M1 models.
The chip also carries a 10-core graphics processor to support high-resolution videos and professional-level gaming needs. It also has a powerful 16-core Neural Engine for smart and efficient processing.
Memory & Architecture
The memory subsystem of this model has 8 GB of LPDDR5-6400 RAM over a 128-bit bus. It delivers just over 100 GB/s of bandwidth. This system’s processor features a 192k+128k L1 cache for each performance core and a 128k+64k L1 cache for each efficiency core. It also features 16 MB L2 cache per performance core and 4 MB L2 cache per efficiency core.
Battery
The long battery life of this model comes from a 52.6 W h Li-Poly battery. Apple promises that the battery life of this device is around 15-18 hours. The battery life also varies with usage (15 hours of wireless web time and 18 hours of Apple TV app movie playback time).
A MagSafe 3-equipped 35W Dual USB-C Port Compact Power Adapter is also shipped with this model to power the battery.
Upgradeability
The RAM for this device can be upgraded from 8 GB, 16 GB, or 24 GB at the time of purchase. This MacBook Air also has an option to upgrade its storage to 1 TB or 2 TB SSD at the time of purchase.
The default operating system of this model is macOS 12.4 (21F2081), which could also be upgradeable to the final version of Monterey (macOS 13) as well as the current version of macOS Ventura (macOS 13). The default charger of this device (MagSafe 3-equipped 35W Dual USB-C Port Compact Power Adapter) can be swapped with a fast 67W USB-C Power Adapter for no additional cost.
