This MacBook Air Core i5 1.7 GHz is identical to the MacBook Air Core i5 1.6 GHz but with a faster clock speed. This model was launched without a press release on September 12, 2012. It is available only for educational institutes.

 

Inside this MacBook Air is a 1.7 GHz dual-core Intel “Core i5” processor (I5-3317U), 4 GB of DDR3L SDRAM, 68 GB of flash storage, and an Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics processor. They feature a 13.3-inch widescreen glossy display responsible for providing a native resolution of 1440 x 900. This MacBook Air model is capable. The display of this model is equipped with TFT LED-backlit active-matrix tech for better color intensity and contrast ratios. These are enclosed in a thin classy aluminum case with a 720p FaceTime HD camera. This model offers several connectivity options, including 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless networking, Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology, analog audio out, one Thunderbolt port, 2 USB 3.0 ports (up to 5 Gbps), and an SD card slot with SDXC compatibility. It uses a full-size backlit keyboard with an ambient light sensor.

This device uses a FaceTime webcam for video recording. Unlike earlier MacBook Air Models, it has a keyboard with backlit technology to be easily used in darkness. The complete body of this model is made of an aluminum case, making it thin and compact. The MacBook Air Core i5 has a lot of connectivity options, including 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, two USB 2.0 ports, analog audio out, an SDXC card slot, and just a single Thunderbolt port. It also supports Bluetooth 4.0.

This model has 4 GB of DDR3L SDRAM (1600 MHz) that cannot be upgraded. The DDR3 provides more endurance, speed, and a steadier experience. It comes with a relatively low storage capacity of 64 GB SSD.

It comes up with a 13.3-inch high-resolution glossy widescreen display providing more viewing angles and excellent color accuracy. It supports 1440 x 900 resolution. This MacBook Air model can support two external displays that provide up to 2560×1600 resolution. The external displays are daisy-chained by Thunderbolt connection.

The Intel HD Graphics 4000 processor uses shared memory with the system. It improves the system’s overall performance, allowing the system to run mainstream games and do video editing effortlessly.

This MacBook Air comes with the already installed OS X 10.8.2 with the support for the last version of OS X 10.8.

The 13.3-inch Core i5 MacBook Air is powered by a built-in 50 Wh lithium-polymer lightweight battery that provides up to 7 hours of wireless web use. This model provides up to 30 days of standby time as per Apple’s claim. This device is shipped with a 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter.
