About this Mac

This device is a BTO/CTO device which is nearly identical to MR942LL/A. We have listed this device separately as it has been configured with an upgraded processor when compared to the base model. This has been done to make it easier to catalog as well as easier to read.

The 2018 MacBook Pro similar to MR932LL/A is a slight improvement from the 2017 model with a newer processor and an improved keyboard. The 2018 MacBook Pro is considered to be a mid-cycle refresh to the MacBook Pro line-up. It features a 14 nm, 8th Generation “Coffee Lake” 2.9 GHz Intel “Core i9” processor(8950HK) as well as 16 GB of onboard 2400 MHz DDR4 SDRAM.

Apple has stuck with the same storage options as the previous model(256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB, 4 TB). All 15-inch models are equipped with dedicated graphics cards. Models can be equipped with either an AMD Radeon Pro 555X or 560X with 4 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory. While the 2018 model features the new butterfly keyboard, no other external changes are visible between the 2017 and 2018 models.

The storage included is 256 GB or 512 GB of removable PCIe-based flash storage. This can be upgraded to 1 TB, 2 TB, or 4 TB at the time of purchase.

Screen Size and Resolution

A 15.4” Retina display high resolution (2880×1800) LED-backlit widescreen is the default for the screen type and resolution in this model.

Processor& Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)

This MacBook Pro comes with MacOS X 10.13.6 (17G2112) and runs on a 2.9 GHz Intel Core i9(8950HK) processor with up to 4.8 GHz of Turbo Boost supported and an Intel Iris Plus Graphics 630 graphics processor that shares memory with the system.

Memory & Architecture

This MacBook Pro features 12 MB of shared level 3 cache with 16 GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 SDRAM for its RAM. This can be upgraded to 32 GB at the time of purchase.

Battery Life

The MacBook Pro comes with an 83.6 watt-hour lithium polymer battery that provides 10 hours of wireless web or iTunes Movie use. As applications and Mac OS becomes more efficient, so do the devices it runs on.

Upgradability

This MacBook Pro can be upgraded from 16 GB RAM to up to 32 GB RAM on a purchase but cannot be upgraded after that.If you are looking to run Windows, the system can run Windows 10 (64-Bit) and does it quite efficiently due to updated bios and drivers. This MacBook Pro’s dimensions are 0.61 in ×13.75 in ×9.48 in and a weight of 4.02 lbs (1.83 kg) – becoming the lightest in MacBook Series so far in line with the 2017 model.
