Released alongside the M1 Macbook Pro, this is a great entry model for those wanting to experience the new energy-efficient Apple M1 processor while still maintaining a light form factor. This is the first Macbook Air to feature the new Apple processor that was designed and built in-house.
The M1 processor has a clock speed of 3.2 GHz and is substantially more energy efficient than its MacBook Air Intel counterparts, allowing for up to 18 hours of use with the same battery capacity as previous models. Due to the new processor, this device does not support Windows emulation.
It does however feature an integrated 7-Core GPU which shares 8 GB of memory with the system through a Unified integration. The rest of the Macbook Air specifications match previous models with a 256 GB entry-level storage option and only 2 USB 3.1 ports.
This MacBook Air 13 inch can be upgraded from 8 GB RAM upto 16 GB RAM on a purchase and is not able to be upgraded further after purchase. This system is unable to run Windows due to the “M1” processor. This may be made available via a software upgrade in the future but Apple has not yet confirmed this. This MacBook Air comes installed with macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 and can be upgraded to the latest macOS.The dimensions of this device are .16-0.61 in x 11.97 in x 8.36 in and an average weight of 2.8 lbs (1.29 kg).
