The Mac Pro Eight Core 2.8 GHz model has unique customization from the previous 2006 version. Its major difference is in the processor with a speed of 2.8 GHz in its two Quad-Core Xeon E5462 processors. It also has maintained all of the ports that the original launch machine came with including 5 USB 2.0 ports, two FireWire “400” ports, two FireWire “800” ports, and four PCIe expansion slots. The graphics processor is an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT with 256 MB of GDDR3 memory and two dual-link DVI ports.

The device has 2 GB of 800 MHz DDR2 EEC “fully-buffered” FB-DIMM memory. The RAM has a heat sink design that is a bit different from generic FB-DIMMs. This is centered around a 64-bit architecture.

Although the Mac Pro comes with 2 GB of RAM it can be upgraded up to 64 GB of RAM. The operating system of the Mac Pro can be upgraded from its pre-installed Mac OS X 10.5.1 (9B2117) up to MacOS X 10.11.x. This Mac Pro is able to host Windows XP SP2 (32-Bit) and more recently Windows 7 (64-Bit). This Mac Pro has dimensions of 511 mm × 206 mm × 475 mm and weighs 42.4 lbs (19.2 kg).
