About this Mac Pro
Apple launched the Mac Pro 12-core 3.3 GHz Rack model on June 3, 2019. This model has identical internals to its tower variant but has a different Rack-Mountable case design. These models are more expensive than their tower counterparts, with the capability to slide into a 5U rack.
The Apple Mac Pro 12-Core (2019-Rack) is driven by a powerful 3.3 GHz Intel Xeon W (W-3235) with 64-bit architecture. This processor has twelve cores, each with a clock speed of 3.3 GHz and support for multithreading, and can reach speeds of up to 4.4 GHz with Turbo Boost. The processor also boasts 31.25 MB of cache and a T2 security chip to secure the boot process and provide hardware-level encryption for data. Initially, the graphics card for this model was the AMD Radeon Pro 580X with 8 GB of GDDR5 memory, which was later upgraded to the AMD Radeon Pro W5500X with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory for better performance and graphics quality. The default RAM for this model is 32 GB DDR4 with a minimum speed of 2933 MHz, and it can also be configured with additional RAM options. The standard storage for this model is an expandable 256 GB SSD, which was later updated to a 512 GB SSD in 2022. It has a standard storage speed of 3.4 GB/s.
This model is delivered with a Silver and Black Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad and a Magic Mouse 2. A Magic Trackpad 2 can also be purchased as an optional addition later.
It boasts a range of connectivity options as part of its standard setup, including two USB 3.0 ports, four Thunderbolt 3 ports, two HDMI 2.0 ports, two 10 Gb Ethernet ports, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack with headset support. Wireless connectivity is available through 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. Furthermore, available PCIe slots offer further options for expanding connectivity.
