Apple unveiled this iMac model on August 4, 2020. It was released along with the other iMac 27-Inch 2020 models. It is a CTO variant of the iMac 27-Inch “Core i7” 3.8 (5K, 2020). The significant difference this model has is its graphics processor. This iMac model can be equipped with Radeon Pro 5700 graphics processor (8 GB GDDR6 VRAM) or a Radeon Pro 5700 XT graphics processor (16 GB GDDR6 VRAM).
The processor of this model is a 3.8 GHz 64-bit Intel Core i7 processor with 8 independent processor cores which makes this significantly faster than its 2019 iMac predecessors. It features 16 GB of shared L3 cache memory. It has 8 GB of easy-to-upgrade RAM with 4 RAM slots. The default internal storage space of this model is 512 GB onboard SSD. A T2 security chip is present in this model to make it more secure.
It has a widescreen 27-Inch LED-backlit 5K Retina display that boosts the color saturation of your images and videos. Additionally, this model supports True Tone technology which is not available in previous iMac models. It features a studio-quality three-mic array to record your clear recordings with a high signal-to-noise ratio and directional beamforming. It also has a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam to record quality videos.
A stereo speaker system is also installed in this iMac. It has a wide range of connectivity options, including 4 USB 3.0 ports, 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports (for wired connections), and Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 (for wireless connectivity). These 2020 27-Inch iMac models come with the Apple Magic Keyboard and the multi-touch Magic Mouse 2. This model uses an aluminum case design which is a tapered-edge model.
This model supports the current version of macOS and originally came with the macOS 10.15.6. The RAM is also upgradeable to up to 128 GB. The standard storage could be configured to higher capacities, including 1 TB, 2 TB, 4 TB, or 8 TB SSD. The VRAM can either be 8 GB GDDR6 or 16 GB GDDR6 with varying graphics processors. This model’s mouse and keyboard are also upgradeable.
