The Apple Watch Series 9 Hermes, introduced on September 12, 2023, is a sophisticated blend of Apple’s technological innovation and Hermes’s luxury design. This particular model, with its 45mm stainless steel case, retains the familiar, comfortable design of its predecessors, the Series 8 and Series 7, but with some notable advancements.            

The Series 9 is powered by the new Apple S9 processor, offering enhanced performance compared to the previous models. It features the familiar “Always On” 396×484 LTPO OLED screen, now covered with a protective “Sapphire crystal” layer, making it more robust and scratch-resistant. This model showcases an increased brightness of 2000 nits, a significant improvement over the previous series, ensuring better visibility even in bright sunlight.    

A key highlight of the Series 9 is the introduction of a new double-tap gesture control, adding to the intuitiveness and accessibility of the watch. This gesture control is reliable and adds a fun element to the interaction with the watch. The watch also sees improvements in Siri capabilities, enhancing user experience.         

The Apple Watch Hermes Series 9 comes with exclusive Hermes straps and special watch faces, adding a luxurious touch to the device. Straps in various materials like webbing, knit, and rubber, inspired by Hermes’s rich history in textiles, offer both elegance and practicality. The introduction of the first-ever knitted strap for an Apple Watch, the Bridon, is inspired by equestrian aesthetics, while the Clou de Selle band, crafted from Barénia calfskin, pays homage to Hermes’s equestrian leatherworking expertise. For those with an active lifestyle, the Kilim rubber band, with its matte finish and waterproof properties, offers both style and durability.  

The watch comes with a ceramic and sapphire crystal back and is capable of connecting to the Internet without being tethered to an iPhone, though it is designed to be used with an iPhone XS or later, running iOS 17 or later, for full functionality. The battery life is estimated at up to 18 hours, with a Low Power Mode extending it to 36 hours by disabling certain functions like the Always-On Display. 

The Series 9 Hermes is available in silver or “Space Black” stainless steel, offering a choice for personal styling preferences. The model supports Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Bluetooth 5.3, ensuring connectivity and compatibility with a range of devices.
