Apple launched the iPad Air M2 13-Inch (Wi-Fi Only) on May 7, 2024. This model boasts a significant upgrade from its predecessors, featuring a larger display, faster processor, and improved connectivity.
The iPad Air M2 13-Inch features a fully-laminated, antireflective 12.9-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2732×2048 at 264 ppi. The display offers wide-color (P3) support, True Tone technology, and a peak brightness of 600 nits, making it suitable for a wide range of lighting conditions. The device is housed in a slim aluminum case with rounded corners and flat sides, available in light Blue, light Purple, warm gray “Starlight,” and darker “Space Gray.”
Under the hood, the iPad Air M2 13-Inch is powered by a 3.49 GHz Apple M2 processor with 8 cores (4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores). It includes a 10-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine, providing robust performance for both everyday tasks and more demanding applications. The device comes with 8 GB of RAM and offers storage options of 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB.
Connectivity options include a USB-C port that supports USB 3 (up to 10 Gb/s), dual-band 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6E) with 2×2 MIMO, and Bluetooth 5.3. The device also supports “Touch ID,” which is integrated into the top button.
For photography and video, the iPad Air M2 13-Inch features a 12-megapixel Wide rear camera capable of shooting 4K video. The front-facing camera is a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide lens, which supports the “Center Stage” feature, automatically panning and zooming to keep subjects in frame during video calls. However, it does not support Face ID.
The iPad Air M2 13-Inch includes dual landscape stereo speakers and dual microphones, enhancing the audio experience for media consumption and video calls. Apple estimates the battery life to be around 10 hours for web surfing or video playback on Wi-Fi.
The iPad Air M2 13-Inch also supports external keyboards and trackpads. Additionally, it is compatible with the new Apple Pencil Pro, which offers enhanced interactivity with sensors for squeeze, barrel roll, and haptic feedback, charging via a magnetic connection on the side of the device.
