The first MacBook to be released in the 2016 MacBook lineup comes with a 1.1 GHz Intel Core m3 Skylake processor (M3-6Y30) and a 12-inch screen. The aluminum casing also was made to come in additional colors such as space grey, gold, and a rose gold finish. During this series, Apple improved the life of its battery.
The graphics processor was also upgraded to the Intel HD Graphics 515. The 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of onboard PCIe-based flash storage is only available to upgrade at the time of purchase. The RAM and onboard external storage are fixed without the option of upgrading.
The thickness of the device is approximately 0.14-0.52 inches and weighs 2.03 lbs. These dimensions make this device thinner and lighter than the MacBook Air series. This MacBook came installed with macOS 10.11.4 and can be upgraded to macOS 12. Further specifications and capabilities for this a1534 device can be found below.

Storage
The storage is 256 GB of PCIe-based flash storage soldered to the motherboard (cannot be upgraded). The storage speed of the hard drive is estimated between 845/947 MB per second.
Screen Size and Resolution
This MacBook came with a 12-inch screen thatruns at 2304×1440 and includes the new TFT LED-Backlit active-matrix “Retina” display. This allows for millions of colors to be displayed clearly because the pixel density is 226 pixels per inch. This high density pixel display ensures that individual pixels are not easily detectable at a normal viewing distance. With IPS technology this device can support other resolutions such as 1440×900, 1280×800 and 1024×640.
Processor& Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
The pre-installed operating system on this device was MacOS X 10.11.4 (15E2066). Apple also made a return to Intel for the provision of a graphics processor with the Intel Integrated HD Graphics 515 graphics processor replacing the HD Graphics 5300 used in the early 2015 model. This processor shared the memory of the onboard 8 GB 1866 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM.
Memory & Architecture
This device features a 4 MB Level 3 cache and an upgraded RAM to an 8 GB 1866 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM from the 8 GB 1600 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM that was used in the early 2015 version. The RAM on this device cannot be upgraded. This is centered around a 64-Bit architecture.
Battery Life
The device comes with a 41.4 W h Li-Poly battery that can provide up to 10 hours of “wireless web” use, 11 hours of “iTunes movie playback”, and “30 days” of standby time. A 29W USB-C power adapter comes with the device.
Available Upgrades
The 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of onboard PCIe-based flash storageis only available to upgrade at the time of purchase. The RAM and onboard external storage are fixed without the option of upgrading. The thickness of the device are approximately 0.14-0.52 inches and the weight is 2.03 lbs. These dimensions make this device thinner and lighter than the MacBook Air series.
